6TH APRIL-ASSEMBLY
St Mary's School Pune

The morning of 6th April dawned bright and clear and an air of excitement prevailed in school as it was the last day of the final examination. The morning’s assembly was a special one, because today our young achievers would be felicitated for their achievements.

Rev. Kenseelan led us in prayer and encouraged us to stay strong in the face of challenges. Thereafter, the prize distribution commenced. The students of classes 6,7,8 and 9 who participated in the GK Olympiad held in January were felicitated. Among the participants were Arhana Vij of class 9 and Ananya Krishnan of class 6.

As a unique way of celebrating our sesquicentennial year, a writer’s club had been organized in school. It has successfully published an anthology of short stories and poems titled ‘Flickering Flames’. Some of the illustrations of the girls were selected and published and they were awarded a gift cheque of rupees five hundred as an honorarium for their hard work and skill.

St. Mary’s School is an institution that believes in all round excellence and character development and this belief was reflected in Devika Rajwade of class 8C who won the “Times NIE Student of the Year award.”

We at St. Mary’s believe that service to mankind is service to God and try our utmost to uphold our motto, ‘I Serve’. The students had arranged an SUPW Fete, in which an amount of one lakh rupees was collected. The students of classes nine and ten also visited old age homes and orphanages like the St. John’s Home for the Aged. The amount collected in the fete was presented to Mrs. Sheela Christian of the St. John’s Home and will be utilized for repair work.

Thus, our young achievers made the morning’s assembly even more resplendent and encouraged us all to continue to give back to our school and to the community.
